Egress Assessments

Egress Assessments

Review exit routes, signage, and egress capacity to ensure safe, code-compliant evacuation pathways.

Egress Assessments

FMS conducts Egress Assessments to evaluate exit access, exit routes, and exit discharge conditions to ensure occupants can safely evacuate a building during an emergency. Assessments identify deficiencies that may impede egress and support compliance with applicable life safety and accessibility requirements.

Why Organizations Choose Egress Assessments

Egress Assessments help organizations protect occupants and maintain regulatory readiness. By proactively identifying issues with exit paths, lighting, doors, and signage, organizations can reduce life safety risk and address deficiencies before inspections or emergencies occur.

Scope of Assessment

FMS evaluates critical components of the means of egress, including:

  • Exit access paths, clear width, elevation changes, continuity, and dead ends
  • Exit doors, stairways, ramps, areas of refuge, and discharge to a public way
  • Door hardware, locking arrangements, swing, and operational function
  • Normal and emergency illumination, exit signs, and egress markings
  • Accessible means of egress and required signage

Deliverables

  • Egress Assessment Report with documented findings and photos
  • Prioritized corrective action recommendations and repair summary
